Week 15 Portfolio

Refer to the beginning of this course, I was confused with everything about this course. Although this course is familiar to “ DECO1100 ’ the course I took in last semester, it is not an easy for me to do. There were lots of new challenges and coding compared with DECO1100. On the other hand, it is easy to design an excellent and beautiful product. However, if I need to make the product in real life, it was terrible and lots of problem-solving. It is difficult to work individually for this course. Therefore, I met friends to work together in the project. In the first week, I grouped with my teammates and generated many ideas for the main concepts in WW1 topic. For example, interactive games to lead the user knows WW1, interactive newspaper to describe the WW1 or a map with details about WW1 battles. There were many ideas we pop out. Week 14 Portfolio

In the last 2 weeks before the submission, I produced a website to describe my portfolio. The design was simple but well-functioning. Firstly, the website included a panel which can let the user to navigate to each section of the title. In addition, I put a JavaScript plugin that can make the words display when the user scrolls down to every section, it can show the user what section is he/she reading. Secondly, the website automatically resizes the page when the user makes the browser either smaller or bigger (Figure 1). The panel will hide to the left side and show a button at the left-top. Therefore, the user can read comfortably without any functional problems. Thirdly, I created a button for the starting section (Figure 2). The user can click the button to start my portfolio and automatically scroll down the first section. Finally, the user can contact me by email in the final section (Figure 3). Week 13 Trade Show

This week was the trade show to present our product. Our team presented the purpose and functionality of the website and our target. We properly did well during the trade show, most of the features were worked functionally and we expected. Our teammate fully described the website clearly to the teachers. Therefore, it was a great and expected trade show we had. However, we still got one problem during the trade show. The website couldn ' t link to the SQL database. We did upload all the files we got to the server. But the website couldn ' t link the database website since we uploaded. Fortunately, I tried to change the address from HTTP to HTTPS to fix the problems. Since the SQL address is a secure website, it should use HTTPS to link instead of HTTP. On the other hand, I discovered other groupmate product in the trade show. They did high distinction website and evaluation. It was amazing. Week 12 Final Week before Submission

In this week, we have continued to process our website. Our teammates decided to focus on the functionality and the structure and temporary abandoned the design of the website since this wasn ’ t our main list of MVP. However, our functionality of the website has nearly finished but still working in process. As we are running on the track, we had only less than a week to finish. We will try to make the website functional and beautiful. In my work, I designed to make the body appeared to the right side of the website. It will make the content become difficult to read. However, I made a guide step by step which can lead the user to drag the content to the diary book. In addition, the words will automatically appear when the user drag the content to the book. Week 11 Website & Final Report

In week 11, the website was working in the process. We were struggling about the coding API, HTML and JavaScript. For the previous week, my teammate Kelvin and Emma found out the website was difficult to code that we expected. For example, we were trying to make a WWII portrait which can show the WWII soldiers. The API was working fluently and nice. Unfortunately, the HTML and CSS design didn ’ t expect that difficult to make the website clearly and comfortably. In addition, we are going to start the report instead of focusing too much on the coding part. My teammates will start this week and write a temporary report. The report demonstrates the use of datasets, design part and the improvements. Mainly will describe the final website, reflection and improvements. Week 10 Temporary Diary Entries

In the Mid-Semester holiday period, we decided to improve our own working for the project. For me, our team discussed that the background and structure should be same as every teammate. I was trying to make the structure as similar as my teammate (See Photo 1 below). Before I changed, my working was generated the words immediately with old style words. After my thinking and redesign, I will make it easier to read. Therefore, people can understand the website was created with same style structure. However, I ’ m harassing about the coding and style which can make the structure be same as my teammates. It is because there are many HTML, CSS and JavaScript code which is difficult to run and code. Without the internet, it is more rigorous to make it. But I will try to achieve what I have done now and finish it before the next contact class. In the whole teamwork, I think we are still on track for the final deadline. Week 9 Progress Demonstration & Report

After a discussion with our teachers and feedback from other team, we considered to fully change our website structures and designs. This decision was decided since Week 8. And now, our website is working in progress and getting on track after that. We produced a temporary website, linked to our pages and the database with the API. Therefore, this result was expected. However, we do have lots of coding needs to change and improve fluency. It is because the basic website has been just for showing the users how our website working, but it cannot satisfy the user’s demand. In Major Project Part C, we will work early and completely as soon as possible. In a week 9 presentation, we received a variety of feedback and comments. One of the responders thought that we should manage the navigation and function in the future work. It is a great consideration to help the users understand our website, such as make a tutorial to lead them knowing the function of the website. On the other hand,...
